TCS NQT Time and Distance
Problems related to time and distance is important for the TCS NQT exam. The problem can be related to a bicycle or a car or an airplane. The vehicle of one person can start at a particular time at a particular speed, and another person can then start after some time at a different speed. We will have to find out at what time one of the persons will be at a particular distance ahead of the other person. Such questions require clear understanding of how time and distance formulas and calculations work. The questions can be made more complex if they do not go in a straight line. They can take turns, and one of them may be going east, and one of them may start going South. In such cases, we have to apply the formulas of mensuration to form triangles and find distances between various different points. The ships thus formed will usually be rectangles or squares or triangles. It can also be a circular or elliptical path. The paths may overlay on each other as well, giving rise to complex routes and shapes. How can we be ready with all the formulas? I realized I had to practice a lot to be comfortable with formulas of all the different shapes. I tried to remember the basic formulas and most of the important ones. Some of the formulas of some shapes were more complex than others. The only way to be confident with these types of problems is with tremendous amounts of practice.

TCS NQT Relative Speed
There can be another type of problem for time and distance. For example, we are moving at a particular speed. And we observed another vehicle approaching us at another speed. We find we meet the vehicle after this much amount of time. Then what is the speed of the other vehicle? Such problems are related to relative speed. Problems related to relative speed can be of various types. The two objects are vehicles can be moving in the same direction. The vehicles may also be moving in different directions away from each other. The vehicles may be moving away from each other directly opposite away, or at an angle. Their direction of movement can be in straight lines or can also be in a circular way. We need to be aware of what formulas we have to use to calculate the distance. It may be in the form of an arc or a straight line. We need to be able to find the perimeter of all kinds of shapes to be able to solve such types of problems. It can be a combination of different perimeters of various shapes. I wanted to test various such kinds of scenarios and thus started framing my own problems. I figured out that I can frame very complex such problems and wanted to test my speed at which I can solve them.

TCS NQT Mixture Question
Questions on mixture are important for the TCS NQT exam. The price of a particular product may be given. The price of another product is given. We have to find in what ratio should these products be mixed so that it gives a profit of a particular percentage when sold at a particular price. It is important that we can solve such problems quickly during the exam. If required, we should consider variables to represent the problem in a better way. At the end of the problem, the ratio of these variables should provide us are required ratio the question is asking for. It is important to remember what ratio is being asked for. The question can be inversed as to asking the ratio of the second product and the first product. Or the question can also be asking the ratio of the first product and the second product. Such slight differences in how the question is asked can make all the difference in choosing the answers for the candidates. Questions on mixture can be solved at a very rapid pace with lots of practice before the TCS NQT exam. There can be of solids as well as liquids. Our mixture can be done between 2 clean and pure objects or between one mixture and another pure object. Such mixtures of mixtures can make the problem more complex when finding the ratio.
TCS NQT Fractions
There can be various problems with regards to fractions. For example, in a village if a fraction of men and a fraction of women participate in a particular activity, and the total number of participants is given, then what is the number of men and women if a given value of fraction is men. Types of problems require us to assume the values as variables. Then we can frame different equations based on the values given to us. By replacing the value of the variable in the second equation with the relation found in the first equation, we can then solve these questions. The answers are always whole numbers when it pertains to the count of men and women. So, if you get a fraction as a count of people, then you can be sure that your answer is not correct. Unless mentioned in specific special scenarios, such counts of people will never be a fraction. If it can be a fraction, then it will be mentioned in the question accordingly. It is important that we don’t get carried away by seeing the question and form very large kinds of equations that we then struggle with. It is always better to form crisp and small and short equations that we can handle easily. We can then effectively find the relationships between them and apply them to our need when required.
TCS NQT Number System
We can see various interesting problems in number system in the TCS NQT exam. For example, when a 2-digit number is multiplied by the sum of its digits, we will be given a product. Again, when the number obtained by interchanging its digits, is multiplied by the sum of its digits. We will be given a product. Then, from the answer options, we have to choose the sum of the digits of the given number. How much more complex can these problems get? What if instead of a 2-digit number, the number is more than two digits? Accordingly, the problems will take more time to resolve. I solved a lot of such problems with varied levels of complexity so that I can solve them easily during the TCS NQT exam. Sometimes when assigning variables in such problems, the solutioning can become tougher. But it is important to remember that if we logically follow the steps to find the answer in such questions, it can be done in a very minimum and optimal amount of time. I loved when I saw that my speed to solve such problems kept on gradually increasing with more and more practice. I did not want to move on from this topic of questions unless I achieved a speed, I was comfortable in. It took me a few weeks to be comfortable in this type of questions from the number system.
TCS NQT Profit and Loss
Problems on cost price and selling price can also come in the form of ratio problems. For example, we may be provided with the ratio of the cost price of two products and the selling price of those products. We may also be provided with the ratio of the total cost price and the total selling price of the two products. Now, we may be mentioned that the net loss after combining the total cost price and the total selling price is a particular value. Then what is the difference between their selling prices? Such a question requires a few variables to completely paint the picture. Then gradually step by step as we apply the different variables in the equations, we will be able to identify the values of the variables and then finally get to the answer. This may not be always straightforward. The number of equations can even increase with time. Based on the number of products or a mixture, the number of variables can be higher. But most of the time at the end we will be able to find a particular value or ratio where we will see that the variables cancel out each other. I realized that I needed to practice more as this topic is important for the TCS NQT exam. Even though I have been solving these types of problems from my school days, I still did not want to take a chance. I wanted to solve these problems in the minimum amount of time with the highest level of accuracy.
TCS NQT Compound Interest
It is important to be ready with questions of Compound interest for the TCS NQT exam. For example, if a person buys an expensive product for a particular amount, and then at the end of the first year he pays an amount, and again at the end of the second year he pays an amount, then what will be the total interest paid by him if we are provided with a rate of interest that is compounded yearly. In this type of question, we have to approach it sequentially and methodically with the information provided. The calculation in one step will be driven by the values obtained in the previous step. So, it is important to solve every step accurately and then move on to the next step. Any mistake identified at the end will result in recalculation of all the steps from the beginning. I practice various types of compound interest problems so that I can solve them in limited amount of time in the TCS NQT exam. How many different products can be involved in one particular problem? How many payments can a man make in a year? Based on this, I created various different problems of my own and tried to solve them quickly. Problems of compound interest is a common type of question in the TCS NQT exam.
TCS NQT Mensuration
Mensuration is important for the TCS NQT exam. The questions can be like if we draw different shapes by joining the midpoints of a square. Now, the shapes that are formed by joining the midpoints of a square will be a square. What will happen if we keep on taking the midpoints of each of these squares and drawing them inside of one another? How many such squares can we draw? What will be the total area of all these squares? Such types of calculations tend to go towards infinity. We will be given a few different options in the answers to choose from. What if instead of a square, this is some other shape? When such calculations tend towards infinity, what should we do? After which point should we round off the value? If it is different shapes other than a square, then we need to be aware of what formula to use. I tried to remember most of the formulas of most of the common shapes which had four or five or six or even seven sides. I found it sometimes difficult to remember the more complex formulas of the more complex shapes, but I tried even harder and practiced a lot.
TCS NQT Ratio and Proportion
With regards to questions on ratio and proportion, we can be presented with scenarios from day-to-day life. For example, a quantity of a product may be spent in a community daily. In that community on one day, if some people are absent, then the quantity of the product consumed is less. If the ratio of the consumption is given, how many members were present on that day? I started to think what kind of different products can be mentioned in a question like this. In what different types of scenarios can I be asked this type of question? I wanted to improve my skills so that I can solve such types of problems faster. Some of the times such types of problems can even be solved without taking a variable into assumption. It is easy to get scared by looking at this type of problem when all the values and numbers are not given to us. But we should remember that many of the values might get cancelled out, so they need not be given. Instead of a community like a society, we may be given a school or a sports team as well. In such cases, there will be players and students and so on. I tried to frame problems of my own like this so that I can be ready for any kind of situation and scenario in the TCS NQT exam.
TCS NQT Age Problems
In the TCS NQT exam, there can be problems related to age of different persons. For example, in a family, if one person is aged three times more than the other person, and after eight years he would be 2 1/2 times the age of that person, then after eight years, how many times would his age be of that person? Such questions I tried to solve by taking a variable so that I get the minimum number of fractions. I tried to make sure that the equation I framed did not become too complex. I asked myself, will I be able to solve these problems quickly if it came in the exam? I realized that if the number of members were more, I was taking more time to solve. I was adding more variables and I was forming more equations. For practicing, I tried to form some problems of my own with number of family members, usually more than what can come in the exam. Age related problems are an important topic in arithmetic. So, I wanted to make sure I was confident in such problems. The problems can get tougher with more equations. If multiple relations are given, then we have to frame more equations. Then accordingly we have to reduce the number of variables one by one to find the values of each variable.
TCS NQT Geometry, Mensuration
In mensuration, triangle and its related formulas is important. For example, if the height of a triangle is increased by a particular percentage, what can be the maximum percentage increase in length of the base, so that the increase in area is restricted to a maximum of a particular given percentage? In such cases, we need to be extremely familiar with the formulas of area of a triangle. With the values that are given and the values that are not given to us, we should be able to form variables and equations. I think to myself instead of a triangle, can it be any other shape? Would I be able to calculate the areas then? Do I know all the required formulas to solve such new problems? I did not want to miss out the opportunity to score good marks in this type of questions. So, I practiced a lot. I took out my school books which had a lot of mensuration problems, and I also made notes. I wanted to be able to solve such problems with good speed. I knew such problems were common in the TCS NQT exam.
